SUBJECT: Counterfeit Checks
Summary: Counterfeit checks bearing the name MCNB Banks, Welch, West Virginia, are reportedly in circulation.

MCNB Bank and Trust Co., Welch, West Virginia, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the routing number 051501723, which is assigned to MCNB Bank and Trust Co. The counterfeit items also display the statement "VOID AFTER 90 DAYS FROM CHECK DATE" in the lower-left corner. The phrase "McDowell City National Bank in Welch" and a mailing address are shown in the top-center area. One signature line is displayed in the lower-right corner.

Authentic checks display the words "ACCOUNT #/NAME:" below the bank's name, city, state and zip code in the top-left corner. Two signature lines are shown in the lower-right corner.

Copies of a counterfeit item and an authentic check (VOID) are attached for your review. Be aware that the appearance of counterfeit items can be modified and that additional variations may be presented.
