Press Releases FDIC Issues First Quarter 2005 CRA Examination Schedule
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has issued the public list of institutions that it has scheduled for a Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) examination during the first quarter of 2005. This list is published pursuant to revised CRA regulations published in May 1995 that require each Federal bank and thrift regulator to publish a quarterly CRA examination schedule at least 30 days before the beginning of each quarter. The quarterly list is also available on the Internet at www.fdic.gov.FDIC The Community Reinvestment Act is a 1977 law intended to encourage insured banks and thrifts to help meet the credit needs of the communities in which they are chartered to do business, including low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, consistent with safe and sound operations. Attachments: ### Congress created the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in 1933 to restore public confidence in the nation's banking system. The FDIC insures deposits at the nation's 9,025 banks and savings associations and it promotes the safety and soundness of these institutions by identifying, monitoring and addressing risks to which they are exposed.
