The FDIC Preliminary Bank Earnings Report


Industry Earnings Continue to Exihibit Strength - The chart depicts the amount of after-tax net income (expressed in $Billions) earned by FDIC-insured commercial banks during the most recent and previous 17 quarters. It also shows: 1) the portion of net income that consists of commercial banks' after-tax net gains (and losses) on securities sales and extraordinary items and, 2) the operating income portion of after-tax net income.
