Summary:

The FDIC, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, National Credit Union Administration, and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (the Agencies) encourage financial institutions to work with customers affected by the federal government shutdown. While the agencies realize that the effects of the federal government shutdown on individuals should be transitory, affected borrowers may face a temporary hardship in making payments on financial obligations such as mortgages, student loans, car loans, credit cards, and other debt.
