On March 27, 2002, the Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) amended its listing of Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons by adding the following entity as a Specially Designated Terrorist, a Foreign Terrorist Organization, and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT). Its assets must be blocked immediately.
- Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade (a.k.a. Al-Aqsa Martyrs Battallion)
The following SDGTs have now also been designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations:
- Asbat Al-Ansar
- Salafist Group For Call and Combat (a.k.a. GSPC; a.k.a. Le Groupe Salafiste Pour La Predication Et Le Combat; a.k.a. Salafist Group For Preaching and Combat; a.k.a. GSPC)
Attached is a copy of the OFAC bulletin announcing the changes. Also attached is information from OFAC containing all changes to the list of Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons since January 1, 2002. OFAC has asked that we distribute the information to all FDIC-supervised institutions so records can be checked for accounts that are required to be blocked.
