ELECTRONIC DEPOSIT INSURANCE ESTIMATOR |
FIL-147-2002 |
||||||||||
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation is pleased to announce the release of a new version of its Electronic Deposit Insurance Estimator (EDIE) designed exclusively for use by financial institution personnel. The banker version of EDIE was developed in response to comments and suggestions from bankers who are frequent users of the Internet version released in 1998 for depositors. Like the Internet version for consumers (located at http://www2.fdic.gov/edie), the banker version can be used to calculate deposit insurance coverage for single ownership, joint ownership, testamentary (or POD/ITF/ATF) and IRA accounts. However, the banker version allows users to enter depositor account information much more quickly than the Internet version, and it is available in CD-ROM, so it does not require a connection to the Internet to operate. The banker version also provides a printable report that financial institution staff can share with bank customers.
There is a limit of five CDs per order. Questions about ordering the new version of EDIE can be directed to the FDIC's Public Information Center at 1-877-275-3342 (press 1 for English and 5 for the Public Information Center).FDIC - Public Information Center For your reference, FDIC Financial Institution Letters may be accessed from the FDIC's Web site at www.fdic.gov/news/news/financial/2002/index.html.
