Peoples Bank & Trust, Buford, Georgia, contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation.

The counterfeit items display the routing number 061103153, which is assigned to Peoples Bank & Trust, Buford, Georgia. The counterfeit items are fairly similar to the authentic checks. However, authentic checks have security wording near the top of the check, while counterfeit items do not. The fonts on counterfeit checks, while similar, are different when compared to the font used for the authentic checks. A copy of a counterfeit item and an authentic check (VOID) are attached for your review.
