FDIC participated as a partner in the Alabama Saves kick-off event in Montgomery, Alabama.

February 22, 2011

FDIC and the Worcester, Massachusetts AEI will conduct a presentation on a local cable television station to highlight the necessity and benefits of saving, particularly for those of modest means.

February 20-27, 2011 The West Virginia Saves initiative links Savers to the online Money Smart CBI.
February 20-27, 2011 Taxpayers visiting Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) operated by the KC CASH coalition will receive a flyer that outlines saving tips, strategies, and encourages participation in the Saves initiative. FDIC is a co-organizer of this coalition and staff were involved in developing this flyer.

February 21-26, 2011

Six Milwaukee Alliance for Economic Inclusion (AEI) member financial institutions, community organizations and VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) sites are partnering with Wisconsin Saves to encourage consumers to enroll in the savings campaign.  For example, on February 26, Wisconsin Saves will present savings tips at three Milwaukee AEI partner VITA sites.  FDIC staff are assisting Wisconsin Saves with recruiting additional financial institutions to participate in the enrollment drive.  Wisconsin Saves is working with AEI banks and credit unions to open savings accounts during this week.

FDIC will collaborate with BankCorp South and Mid-Town Partners in a Saves event in Mobile, Alabama for approximately 40 GED students.

February 22-25, 2011

FDIC will provide financial education resources for military service members and civilian personnel during Military Saves Week at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.

February 23, 2011

FDIC staff will provide an overview of Money Smart savings tips to 25 case workers with the Catholic Charities Diocese of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

February 24, 2011

FDIC staff will participate in the Sam Houston State University Financial Literacy Week by teaching two interactive sessions for students in Houston, Texas.  

February 24-25, 2011

FDIC staff will participate in the Alabama Department of Education and Distibutive Education Clubs of America state career development conference in Montgomery, Alabama to promote savings, including by hosting a Money Smart exhibit and judging student entries into the program. 

February 26, 2011

FDIC staff will conduct a Money Smart presentation titled, “Savings Tips and Evaluating Needs vs. Wants in Putting Together a Family Budget” for the Housing Programs & Services Department at Southern University in Shreveport, LA. 

March 18-19, 2011      

FDIC will participate in Tennessee Saves Fair Convention Center Chattanooga, TN.  Over 300 attendees are expected.
