The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation ("FDIC") promotes stability in the banking industry, and, more broadly, for our economy as a whole. The FDIC provides deposit insurance for member banks and savings associations, and manages or liquidates the assets and liabilities of closed insured institutions.
The FDIC strives to minimize costs to the federal deposit insurance funds associated with these efforts.

The Legal Division seeks to provide the FDIC with high-quality legal representation and advice in the most practicable, efficient and cost-effective manner. To assist it in the discharge of its responsibilities, the Legal Division may engage outside counsel.
The Guide for Outside Counsel ("Guide") outlines the requirements of the Legal Division and how you can become eligible to provide your services to the FDIC. The Guide also sets forth many of the policies and procedures that govern the relationship of the FDIC with outside counsel, as well as our expectations of our outside counsel.
We expect our outside counsel to conform to the requirements stated in the Guide. Every attorney or professional we retain is obligated to read and comply with the terms of the Guide and retain a copy of the Guide. This Guide supersedes all prior Guide editions.
