Nationally, the proportion of CRE loans that were past due was 0.51 percent in the second quarter of 2000, rose to 0.94 percent in the first quarter of 2001, dipped briefly to 0.92 percent the following quarter, climbed to 1.04 percent in the first quarter of 2002, dropped to 0.82 percent in the second quarter of 2002, increased to 1.03 percent in the first quarter of 2003, and declined to 0.87 percent in the second quarter of 2003. In Pennsylvania, the proportion of CRE loans that were past due was 0.60 percent in the second quarter of 2000 and remained at that level throughout the year, rose to 1.14 percent in the first quarter of 2001, dipped to 1.02 percent the next quarter, increased to 1.16 percent the next quarter, declined to 0.96 percent at the end of 2001, climbed to 1.29 percent in the first quarter of 2002, fell to 1.04 percent the next quarter, grew to 1.18 percent the next quarter, dropped to 1.03 percent at the end of 2002, rose to 1.14 percent in the first quarter of 2003, and moderated to 1.08 percent in the second quarter of 2003.
