NIMs for community banks have remained steady in value over the past 13 years, and like large and midsized banks and megabanks, have seen an overall decrease in value. Median NIM values for community banks were 4.31% in 1990. Their value rose until 1992 when it peaked at 4.64% and then steadily declined to a value of 4.11% in 2003. Median Risk-Adjusted NIMs started at a value of 4.05% in 1990, peaked in 1992 at 4.44% and then steadily dropped to a final value of 3.94% in 2003.
