Chart 1: Deposits at FDIC-Insured Institutions Grew Faster, while Office Growth Slowed

The number of branch offices increased from approximately 80,000 in the second quarter of 1994 to approximately 97,000 in the second quarter of 2009. Domestic deposits increased from $3.0 trillion in the second quarter of 1994 to approximately $7.5 trillion in the second quarter of 2009.
