Center for Financial Research
The FDIC established the Center for Financial Research (CFR) to promote research on topics important to the FDIC's role as deposit insurer and bank supervisor. The center sponsors research, forums, seminars, conferences and workshops that provide dialogue among industry, academics, and the public sector. Its research programs follow banking industry developments, risk measurement and management methods, regulatory policy, and related topics. The CFR organizes weekly research seminars, hosts short-term visiting scholars, and manages a Visiting Fellows Program on long-term fellowships at the FDIC. The center seeks and selects research proposals through an annual call for papers. Completed papers are distributed as CFR Working Papers.
