Proposals can range from abstracts to finished papers. The CFR’s mission is to support new research. Finished papers are not considered for funding. Proposals will be selected by the CFR program coordinators and co-directors, who are listed at http://www.fdic.gov/bank/analytical/cfr/people.html#pr.
The Center’s research areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Consumer Finance and Credit Issues
- Deposit Insurance
- Risk Measurement
- Corporate Finance
- Policy and Regulation
- Bank Performance and the Economy

Additional details about relevant topics appear below.
An important component of the Center's research funding involves the presentation of work-in-progress at the CFR Workshop in Washington, DC in early December 2009. Travel and lodging expenses will be reimbursed for one author of each paper, according to normal FDIC travel policies. Authors present their papers and benefit from comments offered by attending CFR Research Coordinators, FDIC staff, other CFR funding recipients, and a limited number of interested professionals from the Washington area. Funded proposals, when completed, are included in the FDIC CFR Working Paper Series: http://www.fdic.gov/bank/analytical/cfr/workingpapers.html A final paper suitable for dissemination in the CFR Working Paper Series should be completed by the end of the 2010 calendar year.
